Yes, Onyx can go in the dishwasher. That said, avoid citrus scented detergents and harsh, abrasive cleaners, since they can dull the black finish over time. A gentle dish soap without citrus will keep it looking sharp for longer.
Onyx starts as premium 18/10 stainless steel, the same material used in most high quality flatware, finished with a black coating that gives it its signature look. That coating is what creates the deep, uniform black tone rather than the steel itself being naturally that color.
Like any coated finish, heavy daily use and abrasive scrubbing can gradually wear it down, so we would suggest hand drying after washing and avoiding metal scouring pads. With reasonably gentle care, the finish holds up well for everyday use.
